Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Kenosha County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not voluntarily distributed outside the organization, although a valid legal duty can require disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can collect technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved by a browser. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Analytics providers may combine visits into summary reports. A browser can reject or delete cookies, though some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
- Operating, securing, and improving site performance
- Finding errors and diagnosing technical failures
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Kenosha County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes routing information for records held by the Kenosha County Sheriff, Wisconsin Circuit Court, Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin DOC, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by that provider's privacy policy. Each company decides how long it keeps data and when it shares data. Review those terms before submitting anything.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Kenosha County offices, Wisconsin courts, state agencies, legal resources, or third-party services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before sharing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. Their collection is controlled by their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners selected to process a query
- Advertising networks that serve content on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, however, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be addressed by deleting it.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the data. Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. § 19.35, governs access to government records, while Wis. Stat. § 165.83 addresses state criminal-identification records. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
